Overgreen is a 2D side scroller focused on exploration of the world and leveling up movement. This game was produced by Student Game Developers at UVA, personally I acted as the lead artist where I managed timelines for deliverables, created concept artwork, and assisted other students in general pixel art questions. Below are the pieces I did for the game including two backgrounds, the main character design, and the logo.
The forest background was inspired by fantasy environments and acted as the main guidance for the game's aesthetic.
The desert level was meant to be very different from the rest of the game, away from the greens and blues and in with the orange warm tones.
The logo for the game present at the home screen, I was inspired by vines to create this natural look.
The main character of the game; civilization had to move underground after the overgreen occurred and thus now have shiny eyes to better absorb light and fragile skin that burns when exposed to the sun too long...
